In 2021’s senior capstone project, students learned the importance of managing curb space in a Complete Streets environment, acquiring skills in data collection methods, analysis tools (CurbIQ), stakeholder engagement, and urban planning applications. Washington, D.C. (DDOT) and Fairfax County curbside management experts volunteered their time to develop case studies in their respective jurisdictions.
Special thanks to David Lipscomb (DDOT) and Henri Stein-McCartney (Fairfax County, VA) for lending their expertise to the students. The IBI Group also volunteered to help lead the class efforts on data collection methods and analysis of curb space, providing guidance and access to their software CurbIQ.
Check out an article about how GWU students utilized CurbIQ throughout the project, here.
